Around the world there is still in existence today an archaic practice whereby young boys are introduced prematurely to adulthood by a visit to a bordello, where they experience their very first sexual encounter. This practice is not as prevalent as it once was, but it still exists. And these young boys, for the most part, are not emotionally prepared to deal with the consequences associated with such behavior, and will often later on as adults find themselves scarred, ambivalent and occasionally hostile in their dealings with the women in their lives. Many believe this ritual to be a form of child abuse, but because of double standards in society, where the boys involved are not seen as victims, but instead as individuals going through a rite of passage, the practice continues - albeit on a much smaller scale. Perhaps by understanding exactly how these boys are conditioned to behave as they do, we as members of society might be better able to take a closer look at how our attitudes can affect the way that we interact with those around us.
