Set in the trenches during the First World War, Shattered and Sundered tells the story of a pair of British immigrants, Robert and Vic, fighting in the Canadian forces. Robert has lost all faith in the conflict and after attempting to desert, is forcibly returned to the front lines. He shuts himself off from humanity in an attempt to endure the horrendous circumstances. Vic is far more reliant on camaraderie and soon becomes repulsed by the decisions that the pair must make in order to survive. Inspired by a true story, it examines how the trauma of war does not strengthen, but destroys relationships, revealing the irony in the commendation of those who commit the acts of villains and are hailed as heroes.
