I kind of liked it
Same. Dune has always been heavily reliant on dialogue. I enjoyed it. Superb acting and direction.
First proper exposure to dune. However, not that impressive tbh. there are other sci-fi tv shows I like better. Silo being one of them
I am currently watching Silo and I love that one very much. other suggestion are very much appreciated :)
Well, this is going to be a challenge
Boring
To those saying it is too heavy on dialogue. Read the books. You want to see dialogue heavy even for a book. Read the entire dune series. Frank Herbert uses a thousand words 4 different ways to describe a spoon. I am exagerating but you get the point. This so far I am loving it! LOTS of fore shadowing.
I watched this before starting this series and this episode make complpete sense to me. It is The Butlerian Jihad Explained https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bz5hg9l83q0
So looking forward to this tonight ……
superbe ! wish it dropped all at once though.
drivel.. too bad
This episode was a bore to watch and a chore to sit through with so many dialog heavy scenes that add nothing to the actual episode itself.
Way too much dialogue and not much development but hey, nice special effects.
It’s only the first episode who knows it might just be a slow burner.
Agreed, but even as a slow burn this was rough. I literally had to watch it a second time and rewind scenes multiple times to understand what they are saying. Lots of supposition and explanations, but not much action (not explosions and techno stuff, I mean literally moving around and doing things while talking). You can stand around talking to candidates about a brain, but you can also talk about the brain while showing on screen what you’re talking about.
All the AI tech is gone, but show us on screen what that means for this new society 116 years later. what is different? I thought having the kid take out the toy (when we were all expecting a regular pet or insect) was a great idea. But where did the toy come from? who made it? instead, we talk about it for 5 min.
Yeah I agree with the episode itself being very dialog heavy to the point where the episode did get quite boring to watch at times and while the story might be a slow burn the episode itself doesn’t really give you a reason to want to watch the second episode. Like you said they could have been doing something while they ere talking and that’s true they could’ve heck they even could’ve been going for run or something like that just to keep things interesting.
I see that this show is going to suffer from being based, not on Frank Herbert’s writing but on his son’s books, based on Herbert’s Universe.
