‘Mistress’, from the creative team of Tamara Shroll and Paul Deeb at Pillow Book Productions, takes a stylish, film-noir look into the beguiling sensuality underpinning a sexual play of power and control. Beginning with a general set of creative ideas and improvised dialog, Deeb and Shroll sought a unique approach to making an erotic film; ‘The aim was to produce a piece that didn’t feel scripted’, comments Deeb. A spare and ascetic approach to photography, editing, sound and music finish a tableau that Deeb further describes as being ‘less about pushing the sexual envelope and more about defining a sensual mood’. |
