Details:

Muslim women are figures of mystery amongst the British public and press. The idea of them playing sports prompts even more questions. Are they allowed? How do they do it? Is it different from how everyone else plays sports? The film explores the scarcity of visible Muslim sportswomen, some of the reasons behind this (including availability of facilities and the issue of clothing), and what has changed for women and Muslim women since the Olympics were last held in London in 1948. This youth lead participatory documentary uses a mix of archive research and oral history interviews with different generations of Muslim women from across London. Made with support from youth research charity Independent Academic Research Studies, London Metropolitan University and The Women’s Library.
