Child’s Play is a short film that explores the relationship between the voyeur and the exhibitionist. The film focuses on the role curiosity plays in cultivation of relationships and the individual search for tangible connections in a vast and obscure world dominated by digital media and the Internet. Pairing individuals with a binomial visual language Child’s Play explores the formation of human digital-sexuality by breaking down the persona of the user. What is left is a series of tiny celebrations and sadness, a string of emotions and images dictated by sound and technology. They indulge in a parade of lights wherein the characters assume unseen versions of themselves and fight to broadcast their signals to a distant digital universe that fails to satisfy their want for human touch. The anonymity of the Internet allows the characters to act without consequence but in doing so they create and discover a virtual world ripe with wanting. |
