The 2 can’t really be compared as 2001 was based on a short story by Clarke, The Sentinel, but was written as a screenplay by Kubrick and Clarke. Clarke then wrote a novelisation of that screenplay which was published after the release of the movie.
That said though, this has always been my favorite Clarke book. I read it the 1st time when I was 12 and it blew my mind. This is the book that made me fall in love with science fiction.
Yeah, Clarke’s one of the best.
