Traces of 15-year-old Anna Römer, who was reported missing in Leipzig, are found in a car in a Cologne scrapyard. For the chief inspectors Max Ballauf (Klaus J. Behrendt) and Freddy Schenk (Dietmar Bär) it is obvious: There is a connection with the murder of Sarah Stellwag. Both girls disappeared in Leipzig and turned up again in Cologne.
At the same time and in an unknown place: Peter Bransky is doing Anna Römer's hair and make-up – exactly like the photos of the girls that adorn his vanity mirror. What is he planning to do with Anna? And what about thosegirl in the photos happen? When three girls' bodies are fished out of the Rhine, the investigators' suspicion that they are dealing with a serial offender is confirmed. The intervals at which he strikes are getting shorter and shorter. Ballauf and Schenk have a maximum of two to three days to find Anna Römer alive. In this situation they receive support from their colleagues Saalfeld (Simone Thomalla) and Keppler (Martin Wuttke) from Leipzig.
