Shining Vale is a horror-comedy about a dysfunctional family that moves from the city to a small town in a house in which terrible atrocities have taken place, but no one seems to notice except for the mother — and the evil spirit that's trying to possess her. It's a show about mental illness, small town politics, religion and a family battling their demons. But in a really funny, and scary way.

Confirmed for a second season as of 10 May. Didn’t take long for them to make that decision.

Yea that’s great news. Love the tongue in cheek approach to the show. It gives lots of nods to it’s predecessors in horror movies which is fun too. I was never much of a fan of ‘Friends’ so I wasn’t sure what to expect from Courtney Cox since I hadn’t seen her in anything since that. Love Kinnear though so that’s what prompted me most to give it a try. Had a feeling if he was involved it had to be pretty decent. Fortunately I was pleasantly surprised w/CC & the rest of the cast.

Yeah, like I said in the comments on the last episode, I have no idea what a season 2 would be about or what would happen but I’d sure like to see it and find out. This show has been so different from anything else in so many regards and it’s so much fun. Plus Starz is hurting for original programming. Power and Outlander are the only 2 they have/had which made it past 4 seasons.

1st episode was surprisingly decent w/some good satire throughout the drama like ‘It must be a deer!’ from the dad, among others lines. I wasn’t expecting much from feedback I read elsewhere. It’s certainly nothing new since the plot has been done many times before in other haunted house shows/movies but the acting, soundtrack & the production design are good. It’s a good base to start w/& I hope this improves as it goes along.

I’m enjoying this show two episodes in. It’s got some great lines in it the scare factor is silly and a bit cheesy spooky but Courtney Cox is depressing to watch, her face is LITERALLY frozen, you can’t tell if she’s frightened or angry unless she’s speaking or yelling. So sad when people do that to their faces especially when the point of being an actor is to show facial expressions.

Lol. You are so right.

Loved Season 1 and the storyline. So far Season 2 is everyone screaming their lines at each other. Much less direction-driven plot.

Seems I watched part of S1, but wasn’t too impressed. Can’t even remember what it was about, except that Courtney Cox deserves a better role in a better show.

S1 got pretty crazy after it kicked in gear. Might be fun to give it another shot.

Turns out I liked it more than I thought. 👍
