Set in modern-day Los Angeles, Bel-Air imagines the beloved sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air through a new, dramatic take on Will's complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air. As these two worlds collide, Will reckons with the power of second chances while navigating the conflicts, emotions, and biases of a world far different from the only one he's ever known.

I can actually appreciate that they made the sitcom into a drama because it makes so much sense. I kept quoting the theme song during entire first episode. I loved show as a kid and like how they interpreted the characters for new age, especially Geoffrey. It also helps Will Smith is involved with production so I’m down with this remake.
As formerly mentioned; unnecessary remake as usual with post 2000 Hollywood
The Bel-Air reimagining… is better than I expected. I mean, I expected a dumpster fire, but it’s rather compelling. Just weird having Carlton be so adversial and antagonistic right out the gate.
there was no need for this to be remade
A “reimaging” would be a more fitting description. And it does that very well.
I love it, plus the fact that the main characters have new different personalities from the previous. Looking forward to the entire season!! 5/5
Aunt Viv is Fine … dang
this is surprisingly good
every character got an upgrade depth wise
After 5 episodes I cant stand Carlton and that’s a shame considering how likeable he was in the original show. I guess it’s more realistic tho with how someone would act threatening ones territory.
the original was sappy at times with trying to make everyone likeable.
Everyone isnt a set prop for Will. They have their own motivations and desires outside of him
That being said this unfortunately doesn’t have the legs original does. Straight drama without comedy, it won’t last long.
It will last at least 2 seasons as it recevied a 2 season order.
Perhaps now a days 2 seasons is an acceptable run, but going off its roots if that’s all we get it’d be a shame so hopefully there’s more. I loved the original and watched new shows weekly then on syndication for years. This has potential to be really good as well. I mean the kid playing Will is obviously no Will Smith comparison of the same age comedic acting wise but he is a talented young actor for sure. I like the show so far, I just hope we get more “swagger and nods to the original show”.
The only character that I was disappointed in was Uncle Phil. Too serious. The original Uncle Phil was serious but he could cut loose when needed(that’s what made James Avery so good). If you objectively view Fresh Prince, the acting wasn’t that great. James Avery was a class act and was the only standout. Will Smith was good in the first season(but quality of performance did not improve in subsequent seasons). The 1st and 2nd seasons were the best(Season 1 being the best for me).
Carlton was unlikable in the beginning and in a lot of episodes. Maybe you just don’t remember. A lot of the comedy stemmed from their rivarly. This show is not a comedy.
Yeah I hope evidentually they ease into his more likeable and funny side and away from this negative side
This is nothing like the original show for one the original was comedy and only 30 mins long. This will be dramatic and make Carlton a villain. The original Carlton was a chit head some of the time but Will and Carlton always came together as family. This did not need to be made i will continue to have an open mind but i mean for why cant the folks stop trying to remake and destroy with this woke arss drivel.
Love this new interpretation….Bel-Air is the greatness I knew it would be. Love the casting but can’t stand Carlton. They really made him a whole villain
Sad sigh
