Inspired by real events, Landscapers explores the lives of convicted killers Susan and Christopher Edwards, and asks how this devoted and mild-mannered couple came to kill Susan's parents and bury them in the back garden of their Mansfield home, in a crime that remained undiscovered for over a decade. This blackly comic, narratively playful true crime drama is based on extensive research, hours of interviews and direct access to the accused, who have always protested their innocence of murder. |

This was a good show. It had fantastic acting from Olivia Coleman, who has the range to go from an incredibly sweet character who you would wish was your mom, to manic and frantic, to straight up bizarre - al in one scene, with only maybe 1 cut (if that). David Thewlis puts in another great performance as Coleman’s human who is trying to protect his, “fragile,” wife. And finally, Dipo Ola puts in a humanizing performance as Coleman’s lawyer, while Samuel Anderson added a bit of comic relief as a DCI - what Americans would call a detective.
But you know a show and the actors are doing their job to humanize the leads, when you already know the outcome (the show makes the outcome very clear from the beginning, as the mini-series is a re-enactment of a true story that took place in Mansfield, England), but you sort of wish n the back of your head that they are innocent.
Definitely recommend it. It can get a bit weird at times, but I think that complete sense, given the material that inspired the mini-series.
Fantastic way of presenting this biography. Susan and Christopher Edwards fascination with Hollywood films are intricately woven into the story! The production, acting, sets, and story telling were top notch.
Well-done by two actors who are incredibly successful at delving into bizarre and difficult roles.
A bit quirky but a good watch. I liked it :)
