The Sister is a chilling and suspenseful story of murder – and perhaps ghosts – which exposes the quiet terror of a man trying to escape his past. It follows well-meaning but directionless Nathan, who has a terrible secret he's long prayed would stay buried and for which he's long worked hard to make recompense. Almost a decade into his new and devoted married life, Nathan is rocked to the core when Bob, an unwelcome face from the past, turns up on his doorstep with shocking news….triggering a series of catastrophic decisions which cleverly drive a tense and compelling narrative of psychological suspense, dread, love and possible redemption. |

Started out great started flagging half way through and ended up as a massive floppy let-down.
Contrived attempts at suspence and improbable “twists” to justify a plot-driven playout. Tovey is pretty much one-note in this (and most other stuff he does, I noticed) and Carvel, excellent in other efforts and roles, is more a cartoonish oddball, than a sinister character. It’s a BOOT!
I normally love Bertie’s acting (e.g. in Doctor Foster), but in this one he has a really weird tone of voice…like a villain in children’s fairy tales. It just doesn’t work in a modern setting imo. Other than that, the series is pretty good.
Dem teeth tho…
lol, i was doining something else when i started this and thought that was a woman talking till i looked up. very strange indeed.
