Kevin Can F**k Himself explores the secret life of a woman we all grew up watching: the sitcom wife. A beauty paired with a less attractive, dismissive, caveman-like husband who gets to be a jerk because she's a nag and he's "funny." The series looks to break television convention and ask what does the world look like through her eyes? Alternating between single-camera realism and multi-camera zaniness, the formats will be constantly informing one another as we ask what happens when this supporting character is presented as a real person? And what if that person is pissed?

Love this so far. Hope it doesn’t get cancelled because some people won’t get it
Agreed.
This is great. I love seeing Annie Murphy in this character. This show is a bit of a roller-coaster but the roller-coaster is gradually building up speed.
This show is actually brilliant!
first up this is more an ADULT DRAMA (more focused on the drama thankfully) than a comedy -and the drama is breaking bad ish quality -it is so very different than anything i have ever seen before- the lighting juxtaposition of her life with him and when the he leaves the room -is so intense -straight to my favs -sucks i gotta wait weekly for it -great acting
Quite good & dark, dark, dark. I’m really not keen on sitcoms but this is a critique of the genre while simultaneously spoofing the genre. Lots of psychological intrigue w/the main character played by Annie Murphy who played the sister on Schitt’s Creek, another sitcom. This is miles apart from SC though.Looking forward to seeing how things progress as the show goes on.
Ridiculous. I didn’t know they still used laugh tracks.
There’s two formats… it’s cold and dark following Allison’s perspective for about 95% of the show, and then there’s an obnoxious sit-com (yes with laugh track) whenever Kevin’s in the room. I think it’s acceptable given the way it’s used.
I could accept a lot less of Kevin. That guy’s a good actor—at least I hope that’s acting.
Somebody really missed the premise of the show.
I know this is not how you ignore someone. But, this is.
I mean, to be fair, she’s right. The obnoxious laugh track is a big part of what this show is trying to say.
It doesn’t take away from the fact that it is obnoxious. My statement wasn’t a plea to be enlightened on the premise of the show. I did read the description. But, for me, it’s a game-changer.
By all means, enjoy.
I can get past the laugh track, it’s not a deal breaker for me, but good god those Boston accents are grating. After 15 minutes it was like fingernails on a chalkboard.
Yeah, the Boston accents are a bit much. Again, part of the point of stuff being so phony on those types of sitcoms but still they lay it on thick.
Just finished ep 1 and I think I see what they’re doing there. So when does the Avengers stuff kick in?
Oh, it definitely does have shades of “Wandavision”. Kind of unfortunate it came out after that, Frankly.
You always know the right thing to say, etim.
I get what they are going for, but nothing really happened in episode 1. If that’s what it will be like in all the other episodes then it’s just going to be boring. They needed a major cliffhanger at the end of first episode to draw people in…that didn’t happen.
I was gonna ask this earlier but keep forgetting to—isn’t that living room a clone of Archie Bunker’s?
not really
ok—looks awful familiar though
i think that’s their point that all sitcoms are generic and have interchangeable settings -just insert your fav protagonist or doofus
