The greatest role Norma Jean Mortenson ever played was that of the fictional character she named Marilyn Monroe after her maternal family surname. Unlike a lot of really great talents such as Mae West, Norma kept the two things distinct & separate & didn’t get lost in the false persona. She was far more solid & intelligent than most give her credit for.

There is a difference in the actual person of Norma Jean Mortenson and the character she invented known as Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn was a fiction. A mere character role. Norma was not. She was a painfully shy orphaned redhead with a bad speech stutter who was left in movie theatres by a series of neglectful foster parents- which is all it took to plant the seeds she would need to cultivate her own innate gifts & become immortal.

Norma left behind her older sister, Berniece Baker Miracle, whom she provided for in her will & also made her funeral arrangements. In 1994, Berniece co-wrote the only authorized Monroe family autobiography with her daughter Mona Rae Miracle entitled My Sister Marilyn: A Memoir Of Marilyn Monroe.

Invaluable, Random. I never knew! Thank you so much!

This is, IMHO, Marilyn Monroe’s best acting job. It’s a incredibly beautiful film-noir movie. You also get to see Niagara falls and area, as it was in the ‘50’s. It’s been a favorite of mine.
Give it a watch I’m sure you’ll like it!

She is fantastic in this! If you haven’t seen “The Misfits”, it’s another amazing performance by Marilyn https://www.primewire.tf/movie/118264-the-misfits. Actually, she was a very accomplished actress who was pigeonholed, yet still always delivered. She was amazing. She is missed; there aren’t golden icons anymore.

I so agree with you and that she was usually cast as the “dumb blond” but she was far from it. Hollywood directors knew what they had and exploited her. Just as Colonel Parker exploited Elvis! He too was a good actor but all Parker and Hollywood wanted was to make money off of him. I consider “Love Me Tender” as his best movie even though he was not the star, he shone brightly. Could we ever imagine Elvis and Marilyn in the same movie?

Right on! Hollyweird and the like, exploits, and then the “entrepreneurs” like Oprah jump on the blame wagon for the money and ratings. It’s disgusting. Oprah is a liar; as are all those that exploited and then gained from innocence that were lost and sacrificed. It’s complicated, but simple. Those on the top exploit those who are vulnerable. We love Marilyn in this family. She was used and abused and thrown to the wolves because she had a terrible start in life. It affects ANYONE negatively.
