John is a scientist and works for a government research institute that investigates the possibilities of the population of foreign planets. John has been sent to an Earth-like planet to conduct some of his life-testing experiments, and is now stuck with Cara in an isolated research bunker with Artificial Intelligence. He follows a regular everyday life there and describes for the Mission Control on Earth in regularly sent logbook entries his progress. Cara serves John in the form of a hologram as an aid to carrying out the test, as a voice-controlled computer and ultimately as a society. However, the results of the tests are all negative and the mission seems unsuccessful. In desperation, John Cara asks to record a message describing the hopeless situation to Mission Control and asking them to stop the mission and be picked up. Driven by his sense of duty, he continues his duties and his everyday life. However, when he does not receive an answer after a few days, John becomes skeptical and demands a transmission protocol from Cara. This indicates to John that none of his recent messages have been delivered. In his rage and despair, John throws one of his rock samples to Cara, who hits and damages the window, however. A crack now runs through the window and has a glitch effect. Shocked, John realizes that his environment has been played to him and that he himself has been misused as a test object. The only thing left for him now is the escape from his prison. But this turns out to be difficult. |
