A man is a substitute. He replaces people in their lives. He replaces people who are sick of their lives, or who want a rest from their lives. It can be for a month or for more than a year. His new client, David, has a life he has always dreamt about. The life of a famous writer. One day, he gets a postcard from David. On it, David says he has found a new life and that he wants the substitute take over his life permanently. After he becomes David, he can’t write anymore. He stops listening to what his editor says because he is no longer the substitute, he is David. Readers want to read what he thinks. |
