Andy Adams is dead. It’s a bit of a rough landing, but when he collects himself and regains his bearings Andy finds himself stuck on a couch in the middle of purgatory with the boisterously flamboyant Gabriel, the Angel of Death, to whom he must prove his life’s worth. Taken slightly by surprise at the suddenness of things but confident in the choices he made among the living, Andy attacks the challenge head-on, recounting to Gabe his last year alive, weighing the merits of his growing prestige as a book bootlegger (for literary pirates, of course) and the relationship he was forging with a beautiful taxidermy thief, April Mae. But as is often the case in the whirlwind world of book piracy, Andy didn’t have the whole story and not quite everything was as it seemed. Unfortunately, he only realizes this after he bites the bullet in a diner in the middle of nowhere in the clutches of three vindictive librarian avengers known as the Pagemasters. But as luck would have it, a slight slip up in Heaven’s miracle department combined with the untimely closing of Iowa’s borders might just mean Andy can get a second chance to amend his mistakes on Earth. If nothing else, at least he’ll have gained a new appreciation for the pie selection at Perkins. Books! Taxidermy! Something reminiscent of the meaning of life! Archery! Romance! Pies! All this and more in the new short comedy Iowa is Closed Today! |
