Rodero: a name known to aspiring artists who long for their chance to shine. But only a select few are deemed worthy enough to study under the eccentric and hermetic master. Aside from his seductive philosophizing and brutally honest critiques, Rodero also issues his students a challenge: they must capture the essence of beauty. But Rodero himself refuses to reveal the piece he’s been working on for a decade, one which he declares will blow all his other work out of the water. In an attempt to force his hand, an overzealous young student will end up offering him a questionable bargain, drawn to the idea of seeing beauty divine on the canvas and witnessing true artistic perfection. In doing so, the lines between artifice and his personal life will be blurred, but at what cost? Based on the original story by Balzac, The Unknown Masterpiece is a tale of obsession and sacrifice which showcases the bizarre differences in human perception. |
