CCCP-Hockey is a hockeytale about sacrifice and ruthless demands ending up in a revolt against the Soviet-system. A revolt that dissolved and scattered the world’s most famous hockey lineup; Fetisov, Kasatonov, Krutov, Larionov and Makarov. In the 1980s everyone knew their names by heart. “The Super Five” were undefeatable and were the Soviet state’s last propaganda machine, under the leadership of its coach, the despotic hockey fanatic, Viktor Tichonov. For two years, fi lmmaker Bengt Löfgren and veteran Russia correspondent Malcolm Dixelius interviewed all the players about life then and now. CCCP-Hockey presents numerous surprising sequences and never-before-shown archival material from the team’s glory days. |
