A Cab Driver who is a well educated and an experienced Indian man, who due to his recent immigration, and the current economic issues, was only able to find work as a cab driver experiences a terrible day. As the film progresses and the Cabbie encounters a variety of different cultures, people, and class identifications, it will challenge his understanding of what it means to be an immigrant, a minority, and to fall into a pre-determined social class. The Cab Driver is not a cab driver because he is Indian (from India) - he is Indian (the socio-cultural identity) because by being a cab driver others group him into the stereotype despite his education, aspirations and experience. |
