The first of three shorts made at three different studios over a three-year period that all had “Skitch Henderson and His Orchestra” as the (or part of)title. This Columbia (production number 6956) entry features Henderson leading his orchestra with himself on the piano playing “Ignatz in the Side Pocket”, and the orchestra also plays while Nancy Reed sings “It’s a Good Day” and Andy Roberts “The Gypsy.” Disc jockey Fred Robbins is on hand as the emcee. This short was reissued by Columbia on June 3, 1954. |
