“Out on a Holiday” takes a delightful look at relationships in today’s world of open sexuality. It all begins with romantically hesitant Jared having an imaginary conversation with his potential love interest. But he only goes so far before his mind starts to play tricks forcing him to make a move. Enter Randi, Jared’s sharp-witted gal pal. Like any good friend would do, Randi is determined to save Jared from catastrophic love. That catastrophe comes in the form of Clay, a dashing bisexual exuding confidence and certainty. Unlike Clay, Randi’s boyfriend, Harold, is simply straight. He brings chaos to their relationship when his untapped wisdom has yet to supersede his conservative upbringing. Love is tested. Sexual stereotypes are explored. All these come to play in the spirit of Christmas. With songs by the quintessential Brenda Lee like “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” “Out on a Holiday” will have you humming yuletide carols long after the film fades out. |
