Koji and Shizuko have soon been married for 5 years. To pay for the land and construction of their house, Koji spends more and more time at work. Shizuko on the other hands commutes to a mental health clinic where she’s enjoying an illicit relationship with the clinic’s attending physician, Toshiro Fujimura. One day, Shizuko and Toshiro become involved in a traffic accident. Toshiro dies, while Shizuko becomes is in a serious condition, unconscious. Through the accident, Koji finds out about Shizuko’s infidelity, and is emotionally ripped apart by anger and sadness. In this grievous state, Fujimura’s wife, Miwa, appears. Koji and Miwa become attracted to each other and begin a relationship, as they are both are grieving the loss of their partners.
