The beautiful woman and the brave man disembark the train at the tiny station in the desert. He is the test pilot of the hypersonic nuclear-powered plane called Cyclone, and she is the physicist studying the strange phenomenon encountered by the first flier of the Cyclone jet, who’s name is Kazantsev. Kazantsev tells the new pilot some words about “the shining”, but not much. Next morning Kazantsev is killed during the next test flight. Other has no clue to solve the puzzle, and the younger pilot continues the testing when the second Cyclone is available, but he sees no “shining” and explosion of the engine is considered the most probable reason. Meanwhile the young pilot, who’s name is Baikalov, and the lady that appeared for the research, are sure “the shining” was real and continue their investigation. Several flights go smoothly but at the day when the lady physicist finds the answer, Baikalov encounter the same effect during the flight. His cabin and the nuclear engine are damaged and he is exposed to some radiation. To land he needs the assistance of the carrier plane pilot, and his dose of the radiation is much higher. But Baikalov and Cyclone are saved, and the protection from the hazard can be developed very quickly. |
