Because of the trauma this movie caused me when I was younger back in 90s, I delayed as much as possible watching this remake. This movie back then, single-handedly made me hate clowns. The kid in me, dreaded how it would go. Now, this movie is better shot than the original, no doubts. The cast of kids, was amazingly good. They looked so natural, not like they were acting. And Pennywise. F**king Pennywise was creepy as hell. As good as Bill Skarsgard is here, Tim Curry will always be Pennywise to me. With adult eyes, this movie was not that scary. Because most of the story is focused on the kids (which is fine by me), there was not enough to keep me in a constant state of uneasiness. The parts where the clown was on screen, were effective enough. The one thing that bugged me a lot, was the constant swearing of the kids. Sorry, but back then, I didn’t know of any kids that age, swearing like that. Come on now! So, it’s not as awful as I thought it would be, it’s a good watch for a remake, with good visual effects. But I guess I was expecting a little bit more uneasiness. Just to bring back the fear of yesterday. I’ll be watching part 2 soon.
They turned Richie into a foul-mouthed brat and Pennywise was so overacted it was annoying. Now on to Chapter Two…
