Using his newly bought camera, during a two-week sojourn in Los Angeles, Andy Warhol shoots his first partially scripted feature—a Warholian take on jungle adventure films loosely inspired by the classic film, Tarzan the Ape Man (1932). In a series of playful narrative segments, Tarzan, portrayed by Taylor Mead, meanders through sun-kissed Los Angeles bent on rescuing his beloved mate, Jane, played by underground actress and filmmaker, Naomi Levine. In the process, bare-chested Tarzan flexes his muscles, lifts weights in Venice Beach, and teaches a young Dennis Hopper a lesson before finding Jane, the love of his life. |
