George and Rita have been married for many years but with the children gone, they have only each other at home. They exist in silence - there’s nothing left to say. Rita, faced with the prospect of a continued dull and loveless existence, decides to initiate a change. George comes home and discover a package with a note from Rita: ‘Something I thought we could share.’ Intrigued, George opens the package to discover a puzzle. He looks up and for the first time in a long time, sees Rita. So begins a series of nights where George and Rita are engaged in the combined joy of building a puzzle. Several nights later, there remains only a small and complex section of the puzzle to complete but George and Rita become more involved in each other instead. When Rita wakes up the next morning she discovers George reading his newspaper. After a morning kiss he reveals something that greatly upsets her and forces her to make a decision about her future, and her future happiness.
