This short shows how the freshman squad of the University of California rowing team trains to become competent rowers. We see longtime coach Ky Ebright say goodbye to his departing seniors and welcome his new crew members. Following a test to determine lung capacity, the group get their first lesson on the proper way to pull an oar. After practicing on land, they get to use the training scow, where they learn that rowing in the water is not as easy as it looks. After mastering the training shell and the standard shell, the freshman squad challenges the varsity squad to a race. You’ll have to watch the film to see which group wins. |
