Doggie (Norman Foster) and his girlfriend Bee (Mae Clark) are the owners of a small speakeasy in New York City and trying to save enough money from their bathtub-gin operation to buy a gas station in New Jersey and go straight. But Doggie compulsively plays the horses and is equally mesmerized by shooting craps and soon gambles away their money. But he is hauled out by a big-shot gangster, Curly (Ricardo Cotez) who sets them up in a swanky apartment as a front for his own book-making and bootlegging activities. |
