A drama/romance about a young, community based, “Obama-esque” African-American attorney named Shawn Johnson who helps two of his clients fight for their civil rights. His client, Jose Vasquez is troubled when he is overlooked for a promotion and ultimately fired because of his race. This occurs at a time when he needs to pay for his Italian wife Marie’s medical treatment. Shawn is confronted with combating extreme financial corruption and racial prejudice within the legal system threatening losses for him and his two clients. Shawn begins to lose faith, until his grandmother re-assures him of a higher purpose and inspires him to stay the course. |
