This story is based on 1 Kings 20:34. After first reading it seems like the verse is all about King Ahab having mercy on Ben-Hadad and letting him go free after getting back what was stolen. However, a deeper search reveals that Ben-Hadad is an enemy of God and that King Ahab’s orders from God was to put him to death. So, instead of putting Ben-Hadad to death, King Ahab signs a treaty with him and lets him go. This film tries to capture both levels of the verse. |
