Surface Line Movement is a silent formal film that observes the reflection of power lines. Through the use of chance procedures, the original footage is re-examined in two permutations: the number of clips per segment, the introduction/removal of the footage through fades, and the framing of each clip. The movement within the frame directs the viewer’s attention in unforeseen ways, from the sparsity or density of images as they intersect with each other to the restriction of the frame impeding a line’s progression. |
