If this movie doesn’t blow your mind, there may be a significant amount of grey matter shrinkage. Imagine the greatest mysteries, solved. De ja vu, free will, predestination, reincarnation, the multiverse, holographic reality, quantum mechanics and….. the afterlife; all demystified. This work of fiction neatly ties loose ends from distant antiquity to cutting edge theoretical physics. It is now my go to conceptual explanation for life, the universe and everything, almost!
I’m interested in the film but it has somewhat of a low rating on IMDB. Where did it miss the mark? The answer could well be a critique on society or at least IMDB users…
I dunno- a 6.3 ain’t bad for IMDB. The flick’s chart looks pretty good— https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5155780/ratings
Ppl will rate shows low (and better) for the dumbest reasons. It prob. didn’t have enough explosions or gunfights for ‘em. A lot won’t like it if it makes you have to try to think, either.
I’m sure there were many high ratings. The final rating, which is subject to change, is an average of all the scores.

I love that Robert Redford is still relevant and stepping out of his comfort zone into the science fiction genre.
Watched this 2 years ago, and remember finding it interesting and would recommend to others, so am. And, I may want to watch it again.
I think it’s a great movie but it does kind of falter at the end by using the typical “true love” movie trope. It definitely makes a good effort in explaining some tough theories ranging from the after life to quantum physics. I personally don’t like how the last part of the movie played out. It seemed rushed toward the end and kind of like they couldn’t decide which theory to land on so they wrapped it up with the love story. I still think it’s a great movie. I just wish the plot line was a little more straightforward and the ending focused more on one of the theories than a love story.
You should definitely watch it! This movie really gets you thinking.
Very good idea for a subject. I think it gets somewhat off point a third of the way in, and the personal stories become more important and mixed up with the subject. Ending is a bit muddled. Lots of reasons the ending just did not work for me. I’ll leave it there as this is a comment, not a discussion. I was excited about the subject, even though it was a work of fiction. I was disappointed to watch the directional change.
My stroke brain could not follow this travel 🤔
The IMDB rating is deceiving - it’s a solid 7.5 at least. To say it answers the questions of the universe is a little presumptuous, but what it does do very well is raise significant questions. And they explore these questions in creative and intriguing ways.
