In 2011 Lucas Estevan Soares created a project that started his career as a film director. He had the opportunity to travel the world at a time when portable DSLR cameras were just getting started and purchasing cinema equipment was still a distant dream for a 21 year old man. With low budget, a single camera, no team, but a lot of drive to tell stories, he traveled to 27 countries that year, with the goal of creating the short film exhibition Independent Roads. The exhibition was invited to be screened at Film Festivals, universities and alternative venues in Europe, Africa and Latin America, where he had the joy of sharing his films and exchanging many experiences and ideas about independent filmmaking. |
