This urban poem centers on a group of renegade squatters who become surrogate parents for a young African-American runaway. Deep in this surprisingly communal, makeshift world, a street walking junkie finds a way to become a concerned mother, a severe alcoholic rediscovers his sensitivity, and a lonely outcast emerges as a storyteller. |
