Prince and Rigadin look alike. Mrs Rigadin goes to Aix-les-Bains and Rigadin takes advantage of it to flirt with girls. Meanwhile, Prince, also leaves for Aix-les-Bains. Mrs Prince, seeing Rigadin making a pass at a lady, thinks he is her husband and strikes him. At Aix-les-Bains, Mrs Rigadin is being courted by a man when Prince comes up. Mrs Rigadin also thinks he is her husband, asks for his protection and takes him to her room. Prince ends up having to fight two duels. When Rigadin comes to join his wife, he finds a man’s pajamas on the bed. He meets Mrs Prince who tells him they are her husband’s. The mess is eventually sorted. Both men decide to grow a beard without telling one another, thinking that it will prevent further confusion.
