One of the many, many Grantland Rice Sport Pictorial sports shorts, all written by and narrated by and featuring sportswriter Grantland Rice, and all produced by the Van Beuren Studios for RKO-Pathe distribution. This one opens at the C. V. Whitney Farms (the future movie-producer) in the blue-grass area of Lexington, Kentucky and shows the new crop of colts that will be trained for horse racing. It then shows stock footage of some of the famed big-race winners of the past… Whichone, Upset, St. Germaine, others - and then cuts to the crowds in Louisville, Kentucky awaiting the annual running of the Kentucky Derby. |
