Bach in the Bijlmer is a charming film about children playing a classical instrument for the first time and the impact this has on their families. The film centers around the ‘Learning Orchestra’ in the disadvantaged neighborhood ‘the Bijlmer’. An initiative to give elementary school children with a cultural diverse background a chance to learn a classical instrument and play it in their own orchestra. Benjamin plays bassoon, Ephraim the cello and Habiba the violin. Together with their classmates they prepare for their exam, a grand concert for their family, friends and even a princess. |
