A Christmas classic! At the time, it rifled quite a few feathers. Two remakes later, and this version still holds it’s own. I watch it every December. If you haven’t seen it somehow, you should.
An all female lead Holiday classic for the horror lovers! Original and incomparable to any other slashers of that time. A psychological chilling thriller without excessive blood or gore effects. It’s dark atmosphere through the film is the main highlight of it’s success!
Yeah, this dudes a frrreeeaaakittyFREAK!
Wow. The day I discover this movie is the day I found out Olivia Hussey decided to check out of this world the day before.
Forever… one of my all time faves
One of the best holiday themed horrors ever made!
Easily… my all time holiday fave 10/10
Yo, whoever played the crazy guy, must h have had fun with this one. I beieve this was made, during the early phase of The Multiple Personalty Disorder’” evolution.
That scene, in the Police Station.. where they’re teasing the dumb cop. That’s like Slasher 101. Love it.
And how about that Piano Solo of his?
Sounds like music from Alfred Hitchcock’s “Vertigo,” or some shit like that.
Yo, that Frat-Marm is hilarious. And that chicks dad, reminds me of that “Flock of Seagulls” Teacher from Beavis & Butt-Head. Gotta love these cheesy old flicks. That’ like half of what makes em watchable. Like with Margot Kidder’s drunken rant.
Pause at exactly 21:38… Pic, left of the mirror, as she leaves the bathroom.
Is that not a cameo of a young Brad Pitt?
You… tell me.
Funny old flick, though. Margot Kidder made me go like… “Ohhh maaaan, Kill that ski-di-dAnk!”
Oh, this one also has that Keir Dullea guy, from “2001: A Space Odyssey.” Not that he’s some great actor, or anything. Jussss sayin’…
Olivia Hussey was so fetch in this movie. Margot Kidder’s character and the house mother were terrific as well. The ticking of the cuckoo clock in the house was a great atmospheric effect. You hear it but I don’t remember ever seeing a cuckoo clock hanging on a wall. A couple of things that make this great horror movie are: 1) we never really find out who the killer is, just his supposed name and perhaps the motive behind the killings, and 2) the actor(s)’s voice work and scripting of those twisted sick phone calls - so realistic and horrifying. As for the killer’s voice during the phone calls, for me, it was as creepy and horrific as Linda Blair’s demon voice in The Exorcist. I’ve never hear anything more disturbing.
