Everything I hoped it would. A return to the original mythos that current content has strayed so far from or now completely ignores. This is what Godzilla is all about. If you were trying to fit this in on the original timeline I guess you would deem this as a sidequel to the first Godzilla film in 1954.

You are so lucky, if what you’ve written means you’ve seen it? The 1954 version is something I’ve watched a hundred plus times, although I’ve all 33 of the films in the franchise over and over.
I saw it in IMAX and it is easily my favorite Godzilla movie since Godzilla vs. Destoroyah. I’ll go even further and say that for me this in some ways equals or even surpasses the original. I’m 60 and grew up watching Godzilla movies, spending countless weekends enjoying double features at the local cinema. The acting is superb, the kaiju scenes are some of the best I’ve ever seen and probably most impressive of all is that it was done with a comparatively small budget of $15 million. I can’t wait to watch it again.
I’ve found a copy as well, and it looks really great for a CAM, plus it’s got HC English subs. My family is super excited to watch this later together. Gojira Time! Whoop!
Yeah, you adjust to the quality pretty quick. I just finished & it’s a great movie. It’s def something you should see in cinemas if given the chance. I’m def going to re-watch this when a higher quality copy is available.
Crap! They’re gonna make me go to the theater to watch this. Critic and public opinion on this has been very high so far and I don’t want to wait to see it. Now I just have to decide if it’ll be IMAX or 4DX.
This actually exceeded my expectations in the most full sense of the expression. It’s a Gojira love letter of sorts… those who love that “universe” will understand! Easily a 5/5 stars.
SO GLAD I WAITED for HD. This movie is so freaking good! The story, the effects. The way it was done. But most of all. The tie in of the origin of the myth of Godzilla. Absolutely Brilliant!!
I was not expecting this film to be so good. I was really impressed. Not only tons of old-school action, but it addressed difficult issues of honor, dignity, and social responsibility in a country already on its knees. Absolutely worth the watch.
Just finished watching the movie and something occurred to me, Mr. Noda had that wild head of hair and round wire rimmed glasses and I thought to myself, “Is he the Japanese version of Albert Einstein?”
What a great title for a reboot! I generally like Godzilla movies, but I’m not a “fan,” so I’m probably missing a lot of easter-eggs. I watched this one after reading it had been nominated for an Oscar for best FX. I’m sure they were good, but tbh my 27” monitor wasn’t that impressed. The story was interesting, though. It has lots of things to say, about Japanese disillusionment with the government in the wake of Fukushima, and about their national debate over rearmament. Unfortunately, it says them in a pretty anodyne way, and ties the whole thing off with a traditional Hollywood ending. This was an almost very good film.
Movie was straight fire🔥🔥🔥 fire like that heat ray but that atomic breathe was amazing!!! Movie of the year imo👍🏼
holyyyyy shit its about to go off oldschool
The wait was worth it! Straight fire🔥🔥🔥Loved it!

This movie was flawless. And, a somewhat happy sappy ending.
