Romanzo Radicale is the story of Marco Pannella’s political and human adventure, portraying the most intimate moments, the political fights, the gestures that have made an era witnessed by his friends and by those who opposed him. A useful and necessary counterpoint to partially restore the life and complexity of an extraordinary man of the twentieth century. In 1959 Italy is a country where a mentality closed to changes prevails. It isn’t possible to divorce. Abortion is a crime. Military service is an obligation. Less than twenty years later, divorce, abortion, conscientious objection has become inalienable rights. Marco Pannella manages to shake Italy moved by the simple and revolutionary conviction that politics must take care of people’s lives and their happiness. And to be heard, he invents a new political language made up of fasting, arrests, provocations. |
