I thoroughly enjoyed this take on the “Rescued Princess” trope. Loved the Enola Holmes movies as well. Ideal for teenagers aged from 13 to at least 71 ! (yes I do mean 71).

THeRealMisterPink 7 points 11 months ago.

I honestly did not think I would enjoy this as much as I did. It was good, i recommend.

This was great. Best dragon movie I’ve seen in a while and about time too. Well produced and a movie you can watch over and over.

Dekeon1969 5 points 11 months ago. 5/5 stars. (Contains Spoilers)

My pronouns are Draco or Dragon. I identify as Dragon so I enjoyed this film. I wasn’t very pleased toward the end, but my perspective changed. This film put Dragons back in the good spotlight and I appreciated the director showcasing a strong woman in the role. It was truly inspiring showing her as a loving mother, a momma bear, a warrior, and a protector. Most other Dragon’s I know give this a big claws up.

THEDEVIANTONE 5 points 1 year ago.

Millie bobby Brown making a name for herself and a dam fine actress already, loved her in stranger things, this will be here 8th March

agree

If you expect a fun, light Y.A. fantasy adventure, do not watch this movie. This movie is brutal. It is closer to a horror movie than a fairy tale. It honestly felt like watching Ripley trying to survive against the xenomorph in the movie Alien sometimes. But dont take my description as a negative either. Cause I fucking loved this movie. I am not the biggest fan of Millie Bobby Brown, but she is phenomenal in this movie. Her character is anything but a Mary Sue. She makes mistakes, struggles to find her courage, suffers terribly. And the movie makes you feel the fear, desperation, and phsyical and emotional pain from the terrible ordeal she is trying to survive. The atmosphere is clostrophobic and very scary. The dragon design is really creative. Every actor in the cast bring their A game, especially Robin Wright. As a sword and sorcery fan, this movie exceeded my every expectation.

The original Grimm’s Fairy Tales were pretty brutal. This would have fit in well with those.

jcpscout 2 points 11 months ago. 5/5 stars.

Excellent movie, solid costumes and acting. Worth the watch.

better than i thought it would be, and Millie didn’t scream as much as i feared.

Speed711 2 points 11 months ago. 4/5 stars.

On the fence. I’m a huge fan of old Dragon Slayer but not a huge fan of the girl power stuff but I did watch it all the way through as my bedtime movie last night. Wish I hadn’t got the version with hard-coded subs but I tried my best to ignore them.

kerfy 2 points 11 months ago. 2/5 stars.

The dragon was dang good,, meh on the rest.. it was ok..definetly worth watching once..

Steppenwolf71 2 points 11 months ago. 2/5 stars.

My bad, the movie is listed as “Dragon Slayer.” Not, “The Dragon Slayer.”
Best Dragon movie ever. And without the help of C.G.I. The only comparable one, is “The Lord of The Rings.”

ThinMan 2 points 11 months ago. 3/5 stars. (Contains Spoilers)

I loved the Dragons in GoT. This dragon reminded me of those, but not quite as frightening. I found “her” voice tedious, but that’s just me.

IamBlue 2 points 11 months ago. 4/5 stars. (Contains Spoilers)

This movie offers a unique twist on the classic damsel in distress trope, presenting a thought-provoking narrative that challenges traditional gender roles.

The story is masterfully written, weaving together elements of danger, suspense, and unexpected turns.

The CGI effects are well-executed, particularly in bringing to life the mystical elements of the plot.

Angela Bassett delivers a standout performance as the lead actress, infusing the character with depth and complexity.

What sets this movie apart is its exploration of power dynamics and the resilience of the human spirit.

Slight spoiler warning

The surprise ending leaves viewers with an inspiring feeling, challenging them to reconsider their perceptions of strength and agency.
This movie is a captivating film that offers both entertainment and thought-provoking themes, making it a must-watch for fans of fantasy and adventure.

ThinMan -5 points 11 months ago*. 3/5 stars.

This is a fun movie, but not great. Millie Bobby Brown is a casualty of Hollywood believing that they really are superhuman. At her young age she is a huge icon for all that’s wrong with the Hollywood image. The amount of plastic surgery she’s had is shocking. She was a talented child, but is now a publicity hound and grabs the spotlight without consideration for her co-stars. This is a one time watch. I hope she gets real one day. What a tragedy to believe the lies of publicity.

Steppenwolf71 1 points 11 months ago. 2/5 stars.

Agreed. And I really kinda liked her, after “Stranger Things.” That show was pretty epic for us 80’s kids. 😊

kerfy 1 points 11 months ago. 2/5 stars.

expect another britney spears saga ….sadly..

~Dime~ 1 points 11 months ago. 1/5 stars.

This was just a horrible movie. Don’t get me wrong. They put some money into the production, and the GFX work looked amazing. The ending to this movie was the only good part. Not because it was like an omg moment… but because the movie was over. This was boring to no end. If I could give it 0 stars I would. Don’t waste your time.

Steppenwolf71 1 points 11 months ago. 2/5 stars. (Contains Spoilers)

It WAS entertaining… except for the fact that the main character’s storyline, isn’t remotely believable. The pampered princess (who’s probably never done a single push-up, in her entire life) just miraculously becomes a warrior, because she’s pissed.

etim 3 points 11 months ago. 3/5 stars. (Contains Spoilers)

The director apparently thought about that too. She was shown splitting firewood and not afraid of doing hard work in that early scene, likely to suggest that she wasn’t all that much of just a ‘pampered princess’.
