Scott has been a case of arrested development ever since his firefighter father died when he was seven. He’s now reached his mid-20s having achieved little, chasing a dream of becoming a tattoo artist that seems far out of reach. As his ambitious younger sister heads off to college, Scott is still living with his exhausted ER nurse mother and spends his days smoking weed, hanging with the guys - Oscar, Igor and Richie - and secretly hooking up with his childhood friend Kelsey. But when his mother starts dating a loudmouth firefighter named Ray, it sets off a chain of events that will force Scott to grapple with his grief and take his first tentative steps toward moving forward in life.

What I’ve noticed with Judd Apatow is that his films fizzle out at the end not having a satisfying conclusion. You just lose interest thinking that it should’ve ended sooner instead of dragging the story. Still, I enjoyed this more than a lot of his other work because I can sympathize with characters. I’m friends with slackers like this or people dealing with issues that hinder personal growth. I appreciate the honesty and how they portrayed this alternate reality of Pete Davidson’s life.
Whoever just uploaded this completely made my night. Thanks so much.
So Happy this came out on here early. Great watch. Bravo Pete. Sad at times, Funny at others, felt very real.
Surprisingly good, ended on a slowed down note, lost vibrance in the last 15 min. Recommended.
I dunno….I personally enjoyed this
I had been looking forward to seeing this, after reading several articles about it, but 7 minutes and 29 seconds into it, I realized I don’t really give a crap about Pete Davidson, or anything he does and says.
Maybe when he’s grown up and has developed any kind of talent.
Maybe…
Same comment, other than to note for me it was around 9 minutes. I’m a generous person.
Hear! Hear! Except for the maybe parts.
It’s not very funny.
hmmmmm - i watched half then lost interest and cleaned the house. Took up the other half the next morning and it felt a bit cliche….7/10
I’m trying to figure out why so many stars, Bill Burr is usually funny but this sucked 2/10
Boring to the end. Starts slow goes nowhere then just ends.
I’m immediately a fan of anyone who dated Ariana Grande and survived.
Many would say Ariana was the survivor, yo.
You have no idea (side eye).
I sure that’s the case with a guy who can’t be in a relationship more than a few months with multiple women, not to mention his suicidal tendencies.
Coming Soon! Brand New Dramedy premieres on June 12th.
Great acting, boring movie. Way too long, Apatow needs a new editor.
No humor or heart to be seen here. It felt like a bad Adam Sandler movie from the late 90s where he was the lovable loser then… but this movie doesn’t have anywhere to go and everyone has to act down to the stars level which makes the whole thing feel really cheap.
Except that Pete Davidson and his friends aren’t “lovable.” They’re just losers. I could care less about them.
omg this was soooooo funny!
This was good…I tried to come in with a clear mind because I like other people don’t really care about Pete Davidson. With all that said, it was a good dramedy. Funny with sad moments and moments of growth.
Too Funny and just what I needed today… Will watch again soon…
What’s that sound, you ask? That’s the sound of 2.25 hrs of my life being siphoned down the drain. This movie was so terrible I think it gave me cancer. Avoid at all costs
For some reason Judd Apatow likes to make his movies run for 2 hours or more-(Funny People was 2 1/2 hours). This movie was ok but the character Pete Davidson played-could have been played by anyone. The story could have been told in an hour and a half. I didnt find it funny…No offence to Davidson as I know it is semi autobiographical but the story didnt really hook me in
eff 06/11 : Brand New HD Versions!
i did not finish watching
I think because Pete Davidson is a comedian, and so is Judd Apatow, that they prob thought it could be done as a comedy/drama. It is a tribute to Davidsons father, a firefighter, who died on 9/11. A bit like Funny People-where Adam Sandler who is a comedian (?), played a dramatic role, and it didnt suit him. The Drama side of it was acted to the tee, but the so called “Comedy”-A group of firefighters (Headed by the always intriguing Steve Buscemi) showering Pete Davidsons character with a firehose. Bill Burr looked as though he was being forced to play the role. As I said, Funny People, should have been billed as a Drama, I guess Judd Apatow wants his viewers to think they are in store for some funny jokes and some drama. Anyway, kudos to Davidson for having the courage to tell in his words “what his life would have been like had he not started doing stand up after his father died”-However, if Judd Apatow happens to read this—your stories could be told in an hour and a half man. Makes me wonder if the powers that be have something over Judd that ALL his movies go for 2- 2 1/2 hours.
