I think because Pete Davidson is a comedian, and so is Judd Apatow, that they prob thought it could be done as a comedy/drama. It is a tribute to Davidsons father, a firefighter, who died on 9/11. A bit like Funny People-where Adam Sandler who is a comedian (?), played a dramatic role, and it didnt suit him. The Drama side of it was acted to the tee, but the so called “Comedy”-A group of firefighters (Headed by the always intriguing Steve Buscemi) showering Pete Davidsons character with a firehose. Bill Burr looked as though he was being forced to play the role. As I said, Funny People, should have been billed as a Drama, I guess Judd Apatow wants his viewers to think they are in store for some funny jokes and some drama. Anyway, kudos to Davidson for having the courage to tell in his words “what his life would have been like had he not started doing stand up after his father died”-However, if Judd Apatow happens to read this—your stories could be told in an hour and a half man. Makes me wonder if the powers that be have something over Judd that ALL his movies go for 2- 2 1/2 hours.
