In 1729 Jonathan Swift penned his satirical essay, “A Modest Proposal”, suggesting the Irish mollify their poverty and rampant famine by eating their own children. Were Swift alive today he would doubtless address the greatest threat to our modern society. . . HACKERS!!! Adapted from Swift’s famous work, DTBD Films’ “A Modest Proposal” poses a comedic, yet apropos, solution to the problem of computer viruses and the hackers who feel the need to create them. Frankly, we believe these geeks should be rounded up, prosecuted for their crimes, and sent straight to jail. But, with a curriculum empathizing how to catch a football, the proper way to drink beer, and (most terrifying for the inmates) how to talk to women, this prison will aim to reform the offenders rather than punish them. After all, had these poor nerds been given one measure of social graces then one hundred fold of their diseases would never have been born. Finally, and through many great trials and travails, these nerds will emerge remade men and our world be made safer for it. Or at least it would, if we adopted this modest proposal. |
