This film helped save the life of a minor called Nazanin Fatehi on Iran’s death row by galvanizing public opinion. When the film was broadcasted on major networks such as CNN and BBC in 2007, it helped the campaign to free Fatehi. This campaign, spearheaded by the Canadian activist Nazinin Afshin-Jam, attracted 350,000 petition signatures, which were submitted to the UN. As a result, the pressure by the international community increased substantially on Iran and the Iranian authorities dropped the charges against the young woman and released her. This documentary features interviews with Nazinin Fatehi’s family in Iran, an emotional phone conversation with Fatehi from prison, and interviews with Nazinin Afshin-Jam. |
