Sticks, Stones, Bricks and Bones is a documentary about Winnipeg people and the objects they work with, play with, or simply have a passion for. Whether a curler teaching children to sweep at the Granite Curling Club, or a demolition man salvaging bricks, an archaeologist showing the city’s oldest finds, or and a furniture salesman musing about grains in wood—these people may carve sticks, throw stones, place bricks or date bones, but they hold our city together, sometimes in ways we don’t expect, and in places we wouldn’t think to find them. They hang from the highest branches of our trees, and dig below our sewers—and they are as important as the materials they work with, whether stick, stone, brick or bone. |
