After losing all his money playing cards, Don Mendo Salazar, Marqués de Cabra go to the house of his beloved Magdalena, daughter of a friend of the King. There, they are discovered by her fiancé, Don Pero, Duque de Toro. Don Mendo thief poses as not to stain her honor and is enclosed.
