Written by and for African and South American refugee teens, The Good Boy is the narrative picture of a Liberian boy’s violent adjustment into American inner-city life, as witnessed through the eyes of his girlfriend, Maria. The Good Boy features an original cast of African refugee and African-American teen-aged actors, telling the timeless story of the lure fast cash and city streets can be on a vulnerable heart, with a unique voice of their own. Produced entirely on location in St. Louis, MO, the film was funded through grants from The Kresge Foundation and the Missouri Arts Council to address the growing urban issue of refugee youth falling victim to the trappings of gang lifestyles upon their relocation to the United States. |
