Felt like they may have rushed into the action too soon so we don’t get to feel for these characters like we should. That’s my only complaint about this because I like the feel of an Aliens movie but underwater and bringing the bigger lore of Chtulu to life. Kristen Stewart’s personality vibes well with the horror despite people’s dislike of her acting. It’s a nice watch for anyone who likes this genre.

This was really great. Kristen Stewart, and the entire rest of the cast, do a bang up job. The whole thing is creepy and claustrophobic. It feels like it might as well be outer space, and is even scarier because of the immense pressure. Even in space you can conceivably survive exposure outside your suit but at the bottom of the ocean there’s literally zero margin for error. The entire premise is pretty terrifying to me, and I hate to use the word “Lovecraftian”, so I won’t, but if you’re into that kind of thing, I would highly recommend this movie.

One time watch for me. Movie was way too dark, was really hard to tell what was going on half the time (fault of how it was shot, not quality of the upload) A nice high tension, movie with a creepy atmosphere and some interesting creatures, but this could have been SOO much better. Kristen Stewart was a bad choice for the role. I give this a 5/10

Not a bad flick. A little bit messy and it had a shotgun start, but there was enough to keep me interested. Kristen Stewart wasn’t exactly stellar in her role, but out of all her films I’ve seen, I’d say I disliked this character the least. TJ Miller probably shone the brightest in his role, despite being the defacto comic-relief, I just wish he wasn’t such a disposable character in horrors. 6.5/10, may rewatch when better quality is released.

Damn. I really wanted to like it but, damn. No character introduction. No setting introduction. It was so dark you spend the whole second act squinting. There’s also an audio limiter on the DVD copies I have watched - So, probably best watched with headphones if you don’t want to be forever turning the sound up and down. It’s an underwhelming shit sandwich of Kirsten Stewart narration.

I really feel like this could of been really, really good….if only it had some build up. They needed to spend the first 10-15 minutes introducing the characters & especially the ‘rig’. That would of done wonders for the movie. Instead, they throw you into a place you don’t understand with characters you don’t know in a catastrophe that has no weight due to the previous.
Still, I enjoyed it. 6/10

Who signed off on this cut? It felt like 30 minutes of vital character introduction was missing. What was the mission? Why should we care about them? Who are they? This movie has potential but it was very poorly executed. Dialogue was weak too, I’ll blame it on the writers though this time. 2/5 for me

Even TJ Miller’s character can’t funny that dumpsterfire of an actress into making a movie starring her palatable.
Her character is like what would happen if Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley from the Alien movies crossbred with Dustin Hoffman’s Rainman, minus 100% of the acting chops from the parent characters…

Hmm. So, as others have said, they didn’t spend any time in the beginning introducing the characters or familiarizing the viewers with the rig. But i’m not sure that’s a bad thing - i like it when things cut to the chase. I’m the sort that doesn’t always need every little question answered to enjoy a story. Now, as for the story - it was EXTREMELY basic. I could explain this story with a single sentence. There were no twists. And no big shocker moments. It’s nothing you haven’t seen before, this movie isn’t gonna blow your mind. It’s greatest strength is it’s ambiance. And it’s hit or miss if you like the feel of this movie. I personally found it… ok. Not bad. A fine one-time watch movie. It gives off some Sunshine vibes, but it’s definitely not as good. I don’t regret watching this, in any case. Now for a personal note - i’m pretty sure those diving suits were just the Power Armor from Fallout lol. And this totally could have been a prequel to Cloverfield. (if it IS a Cloverfield prequel, then ignore me.)

liked the movie, nice creature. barely any character development, but I wasn’t really expecting it. I have to agree with a lot of what bobbydoll was saying, regarding the camera work and the need to have the two females in their undies lol. besides that I got what I wanted. ill give it a 3.5/5

It was ok. While sharing some of the criticisms in this thread, my biggest overall peeve is with some of the camera work. At times it’s ‘difficult to watch’. It’s kind of ‘shaky’, and has a lot of ‘quick cuts’. If it had ‘bigger, longer, more stable’ camera shots throughout, it would be better. imo
